Marmaris
The colourful, cosmopolitan seaside town of Marmaris is a popular resort in the Aegean region. Situated on a striking bay, backed by rugged pine-clad mountains, Marmaris and the neighbouring resorts of İçmeler and Datça have something to offer everybody: from the nightlife and bustling shops in Marmaris town centre, to the tranquillity of the Bozburun Peninsula.
With an abundance of tourist accommodation, shops, restaurants, bars and even it's own "bar street", Marmaris Town Centre is without a doubt the hub of the region. Much of the action is centred around the attractive harbour, also the point from which many of the popular daily boat trips depart. Shopping is excellent, with bargains to be found on leather goods, gold, carpets and clothing. Visits to the covered bazaar and the weekly market are a must. Marmaris has it's own popular beach and there are also several more within easy reach by boat or by local minibus.
Armutalan is the current property investment hot spot attracting buyers from all over Europe and accommodating an ever growing expat community.
With two marinas (Netsel and Albatross), Marmaris is a high capacity yachting resource and many people through the summer and over-winter moore their boats here. The harbour is always an interesting place to sit and watch the world go by. You can see the local fisherman return with their catch or wave to the passengers on the liners which call into Marmaris on their Blue Voyage cruises.
Marmaris has two private hospitals, the better known being Ahu Hetman. There are also plenty of chemists in the town whose pharmacists will dispense many UK prescription only drugs over the counter and can provide first aid and advice on treatment. Doctors operate a 24 hour rota during the season. There are also opticians and dentists available if required.
Dalaman Airport is 85 km away and transfers take between 70 and 90 minutes.
